Insert Anchor link
You will require this information if you would like to use the ‘Anchor’ link functionality.
An anchor link is a web link that allows users to leapfrog to a specific point on a website page.
Before using the ‘Anchor’ link functionality, we suggest you take a look at this article on best practice.
Instructions
Navigate to the content on your website that you would like to add an anchor to. You can only use anchors in the rich text editor (ensure that you are logged in and have the appropriate editing rights).
Navigate to the 'Edit' form of the content.
You can create an anchor from any text on the page, but you can only link to text that has a heading tag associated with it. Therefore you can only link to content that is formatted with either ‘Heading - Main’ or ‘Heading - Sub’. You will need to have created these headings before creating the anchor link to them.
Using your cursor, highlight the text that you would like to create the link from, and select the hyperlink option from the formatting bar.
You will be shown a pop up with four tabs. Select the ‘Anchor’ tab.
Once you are looking at the ‘Anchor’ tab, it will display all of the headings that you have on your page in a list with select buttons next to them.
Select the option next to the heading that you would like to link the text you have highlighted to.
Enter a link title - this is important for accessibility. The title attribute is used to provide additional information to help clarify or further describe the purpose of a link.
You should not change or add anything into the ‘Open in this window/frame’ field and do not fill the ‘CSS Style’ field.
Click the ‘OK’ button.
You will be taken back to the rich text editor, where you will see the format of the text that you have created the link from has changed.
Save the edit form, and you will see that the link is now on the page. You can click the link and it will take you down the page to the heading that you have created.
