8.10 Station Grouping
Available from versions 8.6
Feature release date: 24/06/2022
Summary
For any OSCE exam Item Set it is possible to group stations together. This functionality can be used to include multiple Items into a single Station Group where the Examiner will be able to assess the candidate across those Items (which could include a range of questions or subject matter) in a single Station.
A Station Group can be used in conjunction with single Items or other Station Groups, in either case a Station Group will act as a single Item (Station) in regards to Exam Timing, Sessions, Rotation and Scheduling. When using Station Groups and Exam Timing the Station Group (no matter how many Items the group contains) will be the same time as any other Station in that Item Set. For example if there are four Items in a single Station Group, and then there are two separate Items not in a Station Group, and the Exam Timing is set to 5 minutes per station, then the Station Group (with four Items included) will be 5 minutes just as the two separate Items will also be 5 minutes each.
Set Up Guide
When viewing an Item Set in Draft state (a brand new Item Set or a New Version of an existing Item Set) you are able to see the Add Station Group button in the Assigned Items menu
When you click this button the page opens for the Station Group name to be input
Once you have entered the name and clicked Save, the page will return to the Item Set Details where the order of the Stations and Station Groups can be rearranged by clicking, dragging and dropping
Whatever Stations the Station Group is placed above will then become sub-Stations of the Station Group. This is demonstrated by the Item (Station) number changing as the order is changed.
There is no limit to the number of Station Groups that can be added to an Item Set
Once the Station Groups are in place the Item Set can be submitted for review and approval.
Candidate View
The Candidate View is minimally changed when Station Grouping is used. It is important to note that if Resources are used then, as expected, the resources would display per case/station separately and would not show simultaneously. The Candidate does have the ability to change their view between the available cases/stations as they are within the same timed Room (Station) of the Exam.
Examiner View
The Examiner View is minimally changed when Station Grouping is used. It is important to note that if Resources are used then, as expected, the resources would display per case/station separately and would not show simultaneously. The Marksheet (Marking Criteria) would also change as per the the case/station. The Examiner does have the ability to change their view between the available cases/stations as they are within the same timed Room (Station) of the Exam, this allows for the Examiner to vary their approach to handling the multiple cases.
Notes:
Both the Examiners and Candidates can navigate between available cases in any Station Group
Resources and Marksheets will show for each case (Item) separately and appropriately
There is no limit to the number of Station Groups and Stations within a Station Group
Troubleshooting:
When adding Items to a Station Group the number of Markers must be the same
