In this section you will find the documentation that you require to be able to pull and subscribe to content from the Haicloud service into your website.

Some key points to note:

  1. You are able to clone an item of content from the Haicloud, which will create a local copy of the content that you clone on your website. By cloning an item of content, you will add it to your website in the exact format that it is in. Once you have cloned it onto your website, you will be able to edit and amend all of the fields on the item of content. You will however still have the option to update the content from the original that it was previously cloned from, or change it from an item of cloned content into an item of subscribed content.

  2. If you choose to subscribe to an item of content from the Haicloud, a copy of the original item of content will be added to your website, where you will only be able to edit a limited set of fields, to ensure the content fits with your website. The subscribed content will stay in synchronisation with the original item. Any edits and changes made to the original item of content will usually be reflected on the subscriber within ten minutes, however if there is a high volume of requests in a short period of time, this may take up to one hour.

  3. This initial release of the Haicloud is not currently designed to be used for adding remote profiles to your Haiku website. It is still possible to add remote profiles to your website, and this should be done using the current 'Add remote content' action in the profiles section. Instructions on how to use this, can be found here.
  4. If you get any error messages when using any of the Haicloud actions, do not worry. When you clone or subscribe any items of content from the Haicloud, they are always added to your website in the 'New' state, and therefore will have no impact on the other content on your website, or to external users of your website. If you do see any errors, please make sure that you report them to the Haiku Helpdesk, providing as much information as possible, and screen shots if relevant.
  5. If an the original item of content that you are subscribed to is deleted from the website it was first created on, no action will be taken on the content that is now on your website. If you have subscribed to an item of content that is subsequently deleted from the original website, the subscribed content on your website will be converted into a clone of the original content in its exact state before it is deleted. You will see a notification on your dashboard.
  6. The Haicloud functionality is currently only available to users with the Site Administrator permission.
  7. Currently all Haiku websites within the Medical Sciences Division have been set to follow each other (this allows the content sharing ability). If for any reason you would like us to update the followers for your Haiku website, please get in touch with the team through theĀ Haiku Helpdesk.
  8. If you are going to be replacing current content on your website with a clone or subscription with content from another Haiku website, then you should navigate to the same place as the content is currently on you live site, add the new content, and when you are happy with it, unpublish the content currently on your website, and publish the newly cloned or subscribed content in its place.
  9. On the back of this major release, we will be able to roll out continual improvements over the next few weeks, to ensure the Haicloud is providing you with all the required functionality.

Currently there are areas we are continually working on to improve, and we are aware of some issues that have become apparent, but we did not feel these warranted us holding back the Haicloud functionality for you any longer:

  1. Providing the ability to categorise content as you subscribe to it, rather than subscribing and then editing the content to update the categories.
  2. Improving the notifications on the cloud dashboard. We have done the preparation work for this, and are working to present the information in a user friendly way.
  3. We are aware that when you add an item of content that has sub-content, you do not have the option to pull in the sub-content at the same time. We are working hard to rectify this, and will have an update for you early next week. This content types that this impacts are:
    1. Research groups
    2. Web pages nested within web pages
    3. Entire section clone/subscribe action
