You will need this information when you have added a Rich Text tile or Static Text portlet, and wish to populate it for the first time, or edit it.
What is the Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet?
The Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet is for adding a section of text that you wish to use rich text formatting on. You will be able to add titles, images and other media, as well as using other rich text fields available when creating other web content.
Adding content in the Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet:
- Whilst the Rich Text tile, and Static text portlet perform in a similar way, the route for adding content to each is different:
- Rich Text tile;
- In the 'Compose' view, you will see that your Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet is empty (unless you are coming back to edit it!). To populate the Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet, you will need to hover over the tile until you see the blue 'Edit' button in the top left, and then click on it.
- Static Text portlet;
Click on your name in the top right of the edit bar to access the drop-down menu, ensuring that you are on the page you wish to host the Blog post portlet.
Select Manage portlets from the dropdown menu.
From the portlets drop down menu, click on Static Text
- Rich Text tile;
- The headed sections in the Rich Text tile, and Static text portlet edit interface will be:
- Content
- Header (portlet only)
- Use this field to create a headed title for your Static Text portlet.
- Text
- Enter text into the Rich Text box, and use the formatting options to present the text as you would like to, then simply save the tile.
- Header (portlet only)
- Style
Box border
This feature allows the user to deploy a border of their choice on either or both sides of the tile.
Box type
This feature allows the user to deploy a highlighted background to the tile.
When using a portlet, there is are two additional headed sections in the Static Text edit interface:
- Button;
- Show more... link
- This functionality will link the button to the destination specified in the field. If linking to an external destination, remember to make sure that the link begins with 'http://'.

If checked, the external link button will open in a new tab.
Button alignment
This determines where the button will sit in relation to the portlet.
Button type
This determines the visual style of the button deployed in the portlet.

Show only for sub-items
Check this box if you would like to add the portlet at a section level, and define that it shows only on all the items in the section, rather than on the section as well. Editing content in the latest news tile/portlet:
Editing content in the Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet:
- When editing the Rich Text tile;
Go to the 'Compose' view of the Cover page, navigate to the Rich Text tile/Static Text portlet, and hover your cursor over it, the blue 'Edit' button will appear in the top left, click this and edit any of the fields you would like to.
- When editing the Static Text portlet;
Click on your name in the top right of the edit bar to access the drop-down menu, ensuring that you are on the correct page, which hosts the portlets in question.
- Select ‘Manage portlets’ from the dropdown menu.
- Click onto the portlet you wish to and edit any of the fields you would like to.
Removing the Rich Text tile
- If you wish to remove the Rich Text tile, navigate to the 'Layout' view of the cover page, and click 'x' in the top left of the tile. When deleting a tile, the tile you are selecting has a red border.
Removing the Static Text portlet:
If you wish to remove the Blog posts portlet, click on your name in the top right of the edit bar to access the drop-down menu, ensuring that you are on the correct page, which hosts the portlets in question.
Select ‘Manage portlets’ from the dropdown menu
Click on the X button, next to the portlet you wish to delete.
