8.12 How to update OSCE marksheet global criteria and schema
Global criteria apply to all OSCE marksheet items, or a sub set according to blueprinting of an item, using the Apply if functionality. Common examples of global criteria include: domain based criteria, global score (for standard setting), capturing feedback.
Global criteria cannot be amended on the marksheet, you will instead see a link to the Global marksheet where you can make changes at a global level. The same is the case for the schema. This ensures that the point of truth for any changes to the global criteria and schema, always sits centrally within the OSCE settings.
Local criteria can be created directly within the marksheet, and apply only to that particular item.
When you have finished editing an OSCE item:
Click Submit for Review
Enter any Comment using the free text box provided in the pop up window
Identify any user required to receive a notification via email that the Item has been submitted for review using the free text box provided
Click Submit for review
The status of the item is now “Pending”.
The criteria and the schema are now local copies based on the global set up.This is to ensure that marksheets are not altered without prior consent if global criteria are changed.
You will see the schema showing as “local, based on [name of the global schema]” and a green circle in the column “Global” to indicate that the criteria is a local version of a global criteria.
The only time you will ever see the Global column with a black circle and the schema showing the name of the global schema is when the item is first created and it is in Draft state.
The reviewer of the item can make minor edits (the section that a criteria should show in, the title of the criteria etc.) but the reviewer cannot change the sheet type or the schema. Additionally, the user cannot add a new local criteria to a pending item. If they cannot approve these as they are, they should reject the item.
Once a pending item has been approved, the status will change from pending to approved.
If at any stage a criteria or schema on an item is out of synch with the Global criteria or schema, you will see a warning indication.
On the main item tab, the warning appears like this when an update has been made to the criteria regardless which state the item is in:
On the marksheet tab, the warning appears like this when the item is in the approved state:
When the item is in draft state:
When the item is Pending state:
Note that new local criteria can no longer be added when an item is pending.
In versions 8.7 - 8.9 you will be required to click the refresh button for both the schema and the criteria for each criteria or schema to synchronise with the global version. On version 8.10 and above, you will find a button that will allow you to update all obsolete criteria and schema on that item’s marksheet in one go:
