8.12 How to set up Question Bank Segregation and Restrictions
Click Blueprints from the top menu bar
Click Edit Master Blueprint
Click + Add Dimension
In the Free Text box enter a name for your Dimension
From the dropdown menu select the Dimension type (discrete or text)
By clicking in the check boxes select all possible applications of your new Dimension
By clicking in the check box select whether or not this new Dimension is mandatory when used
Click Create
Your new Dimension will appear under the Maps menu under the subheading Unassigned Dimensions. The colour bar will appear Blue, this means the Dimension is pending and cannot be used in the system until it is assigned to a Blueprint Map and approved.
Click Edit Categories for your new Dimension
Click + Add New Category
In the free text box enter the name of the category
If you have a hierarchical set of categories you can use the parent option when applicable to define a hierarchy
If applicable you can link categories from other Blueprint Dimensions. For example the specialty category Cardiovascular Surgery may only be linked to Year of Study category Year 4.
Click Create Category
The category will be saved and the screen will refresh allowing you to continue creating categories for your new Blueprint Dimension. Once you have created all your categories click Back to Category List.
From the Manage Maps & Dimensions Screen
Click + Add Map
In the free text box enter the name for your Blueprint Map
Click Create
Your new Blueprint Map will appear under the Maps menu. The colour bar will appear Blue, this means the Blueprint Map is pending and cannot be used in the system until it is approved.
Click Edit Map for your New Blueprint Map
Access the dropdown list of available Dimensions to apply to this Blueprint map click --- Please select dimension ---
Click the appropriate Dimension
Click Add to this map
Submit the Blueprint Map for review by clicking Submit for Review
If you have the permissions you will able to approve the Blueprint Map yourself. If you are not able to do this then you will need to wait for a User with the appropriate permissions to approve your Blueprint Map before it can be used.
Once the Blueprint Map is approved it is ready for use in the system.
Click Back to Blueprint Maps
Your Blueprint Map is now ready for use and the colour bar is Green showing a status of approved. It can now be used in risr/assess.
Repeat the above to create all categories within the Dimension until complete
Edit (or Create) User Groups
Users need to be assigned to a User Group before you can modify their blueprint restrictions
Click Settings in the top menu
Click risr/assess User Groups
Click + Create new User Group
In the free text box provided, enter a name for your User Group (eg. Question Authors)
Now for any permission you want this User Group to have, click the check box
Click Create Group
Edit (or Create) Users
Click Settings in the top menu
Click risr/assess Users
Click + Create new User or search for and Edit an existing User
If creating a User
Enter a Username (this is a required field)
Fill in the User’s First Name, Last Name and Email address
Choose Manually assign permissions or groups from the drop down menu Global Permissions
Using the checkbox select the User Group you just created
Click Save
Click Modify Restrictions for the User Group you wish to restrict access by, found under Detailed Group Assignment
Click Change for the Dimension you wish to restrict by
Select the Categories you wish to restrict by
Repeat these steps until all appropriate Categories are selected
Click Save
Repeat this process for all restrictions you wish to set up in the system
