Image content type
You will require this information when you are using the image content type. To add a new image to your website, navigate to the images library.
Image content type fields
Content tab
Title - for the title of the image. This will be used as the alternative text for the image if a user hovers over the image with their cursor. It will also be used as the text that screen readers dictate to users who require this accessibility.
Sortable name - if provided, this item will be sorted by title based on this field instead of the main title field. This applies to locations, where items are being sorted by title only.
Alternative text - We use the alternative text to help visually impaired users with screen readers and search engine crawlers better understand and index the image. Use words that will describe what you want your audience to get out of the image instead of a simple description of what the image is. If your image doesn't add information to the content of the page, please leave this empty.
Decorative image - If the image is purely for decorative purposes and does not require alt text, check this box. The image will no longer show up in the filter for images without alt text but will show in the decorative images filter.
Image - this is the field where you are able to upload an image and replace an image.
An optional URL that the image will link to - the image will only link to the URL specified here when being used as a logo in the footer of the website.
Expiry date - providing a date in this field will enable it to be filtered by when it is expiring - useful if you have a limited-time license for an image.
Metadata tab - this information will be displayed underneath the image when viewing its landing page (users will not need to be in edit mode to see this information.
Licence details - a plain text field to supply any license details you need to be aware of in relation to the image.
Image copyright - a plain text field to supply any copyright details you need to be aware of in relation to the image. At appropriate locations where the image is displayed, the copyright will be displayed on the image.
Copyright text style - this field allows you to define if the copyright in the bottom corner of the image is in either a ‘Light’ or ‘Dark’ styling
The ‘Light’ option will display the copyright information in white writing in the bottom right corner of the image
The ‘Dark’ option will display the copyright information in white writing on a theme-coloured background in the bottom right corner of the image
Photographer details - a plain text field to supply the photographer/artist's name you may need to be aware of in relation to the image.
Consent form(s) reference number and location - a plain text field to supply any consent form information you need to be aware of in relation to the image.
Notes - a rich text field to store further information about the image. This includes the ability to add links etc.
Categorization tab
Categories - this field allows you to tag the image with categories that are defined in the taxonomy.
Type - this field allows you to tag the image with types that are defined in the taxonomy.
